St. John's/Tipton Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Edward Horinek led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Horinek hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Tyson Gates, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Lakeside earned a 47-39 win over the Grizzlies on Friday.
The victory makes it two in a row for St. John's/Tipton Catholic and bumps their season record up to 7-5. As for Lakeside, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5.
St. John's/Tipton Catholic didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Knights in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. John's/Tipton Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
