London Smith tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Jacob George and Braydon Green did most of the damage at the plate: George went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Green went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stroudsburg). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Pocono Mountain West on Thursday. The Mountaineers have beaten the Panthers the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Stroudsburg got a big performance out of Paul Maccarrone, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Anthony Knight was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
Stroudsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Stroudsburg's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Valley, their record now sits at 6-12.
Pleasant Valley came up short against Stroudsburg in their previous meeting back in April, falling 9-5. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
