Oakdale is 1-9 against Greenback since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cherokees at 6:30 p.m. Oakdale is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Oakdale had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Oneida on Thursday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Landry Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rhylan Hicks, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Ava Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Oakdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oneida only posted an OBP of .238.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Greenback's offense. They came up short against Sweetwater on Friday, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Cherokees' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Oakdale pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Greenback, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Greenback's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oakdale has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. It's a different story for Greenback, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain Oakdale's hitters?
Oakdale might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from Greenback in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
