Grainger has gone a perfect 10-0 against Claiborne recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will welcome the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Grainger is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Grainger's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Volunteer as they made off with an 11-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Grizzlies considering their one-run performance the game before.
Nolan Wallace was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Wallace was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 13 contests.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor May, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kade Lucas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Grainger always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Volunteer only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, Claiborne fell victim to Volunteer and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 10-0.
Garrett Keiter was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base.
Grainger's victory bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Claiborne, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Grainger has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Claiborne struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Grainger was able to grind out a solid win over Claiborne in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 7-2. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
