The Cottondale Hornets couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Liberty County on Monday, falling 56-17. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cottondale in their matchups with Liberty County: they've now lost six in a row.
Liberty County had a senior duo take command as Gabriella Flowers scored 17 points and Caleigh Peddie scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella'ann Childs, who scored 7 points.
Cottondale's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Liberty County, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Cottondale won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Vernon at 5:30 p.m. on November 28th. As for Liberty County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aucilla Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Aucilla Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Monday.
