After two games on the road, Green Level is heading back home. They will take on The Apex Friendship Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Green Level will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Apex Friendship is ranked 80th).
Last Friday, Green Level ended up a good deal behind Green Hope and lost 21-7.
The losing side was boosted by Gavin Jones, who rushed for 177 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Jones was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards.
Meanwhile, Apex Friendship earned a 30-21 win over Middle Creek on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Apex Friendship.
Apex Friendship can attribute much of their success to Brendan Patience, who rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown, and Jaden Avery, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
Green Level's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.8 points per game. As for Apex Friendship, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Green Level took a serious blow against Apex Friendship in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 50-21. Thankfully for Green Level, Terry Hicks (who rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
