Section 3 Class C - North recap October 29, 2013
Thousand Islands scaled the state rankings by moving to 222 from 402 this week, the biggest jump in Section 3 Class C - North. The Vikings climbed the ranks as a result of beating Sherburne-Earlville 23-12.
Immaculate Heart Central extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Skaneateles, 49-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Cavaliers.
Immaculate Heart Central's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cole Carpenter threw for 196 and 3 touchdowns and Nick Koelmel had 138 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Marra chipped in 47 yards. Miles Sexton helped Immaculate Heart Central's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.
He was 15-23 with 1 interception.
Marra was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 47 yards on 9 carries as Paul Alteri's team bested the Lakers. Teammate Haden Baker added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.
Immaculate Heart Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cavaliers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carpenter has thrown for 1,292 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Koelmel has 37 catches for 526 yards.
The Cavaliers are currently in first, while Thousand Islands is in third.
General Brown and Frankfort-Schuyler played the most contested game in Section 3 Class C - North this week, with General Brown eventually emerging with a 14-12 victory.
