Springfield has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Rochester Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Springfield's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Springfield gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Bloomington as Springfield made off with a 58-34 victory. Springfield pushed the score to 46-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Purple Raiders had little chance of recovering from.
Meanwhile, Rochester struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Titans had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Rochester ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-33 walloping at the hands of the Titans. While losing is never fun, Rochester can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Titans are ranked 76th).
Rochester's defeat came about despite a quality game from Taylor Offer, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Springfield is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a massive bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Rochester, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-17.
Springfield strolled past the Rockets in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 by a score of 48-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Springfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
