The Minor Tigers won the last time they faced the Jackson-Olin Mustangs, and things went their way on Friday too. Minor strolled past Jackson-Olin with points to spare, taking the game 58-43. Given Minor's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Jackson-Olin is ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Minor was led to victory by Carmelo Burroughs and Jaylen Chatman. Burroughs dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Chatman dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Chatman is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Mcclain, who scored nine points.
Minor's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Jackson-Olin, they are on a 23-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-23.
Minor will be playing in front of their home fans against Cornerstone at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cornerstone is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Jackson-Olin, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Plainview at 1:20 p.m. on January 27th. Plainview will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
