Port Charlotte is 0-4 against Manatee since March of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Pirates will challenge the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Port Charlotte took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Oasis by a score of 7-4. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Sharks: they've now won six in a row.
Jaylin Pinedo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Abigail Donahue and Brianna Weidner did most of the damage at the plate: Donahue went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Weidner went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Donahue a new career-high. Hayden Flanagan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Manatee hadn't done well against Hardee recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Hurricanes came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hurricanes have posted since April 8, 2024.
Jenna Caldwell was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Maleah Lowe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Manatee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Port Charlotte's record now sits at 7-14. As for Manatee, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14.
Port Charlotte might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Manatee when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
