Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Pieper Warriors, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They lost to the Panthers on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin on Friday. Pieper's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Pieper's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake South, who threw for 356 yards and two touchdowns. South hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Champagne, who picked up 164 receiving yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Noah Long, who rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry for Liberty Hill. Long has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. Ben Carter also helped out as he racked up 119 rushing yards.
Pieper's loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Liberty Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Pieper does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Liberty Hill will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Port Neches-Groves at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Port Neches-Groves' defense has only allowed 15.3 points per game this season, so Liberty Hill's offense will have their work cut out for Liberty Hill.
