The Plainview Indians waltzed into their match Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Ada with a 51-46 victory. Given Plainview's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Ada is ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Plainview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emilee Hedger, who scored 13 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hedger has scored at least 25% of Plainview's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marya Southerland, who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals.
Plainview's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Ada, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Plainview will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lone Grove at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Ada will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Heritage Hall at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
