The Wilson Central Wildcats won against the Clarkrange Buffaloes on Wednesday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. It was close, but Wilson Central capped 2023 with a 49-46 win over Clarkrange. Wilson Central didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
Despite the loss, Clarkrange had strong showings from Bryton Swallows, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds, and Jack Cordell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Swallows scored a full 43.5% of Clarkrange's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Wilson Central's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Clarkrange, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilson Central will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Trousdale County at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd. Clarkrange will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Red Boiling Springs at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th.
