The Orono Riots will challenge the Houlton Shiretowners at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Orono knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Houlton likes a good challenge.
Orono was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Central on Friday. The Riots never let the Red Devils get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Riots haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Logan Williams, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Williams is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Brewer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Orono kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Houlton came up short against Presque Isle on Thursday and fell 8-4. The Shiretowners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Thadon Gentle put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
Gentle wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aedan Valles, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Mark Thibodeau was another, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Orono's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Houlton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Houlton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Orono hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. It's a different story for Houlton, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain Orono's hitters?
Everything went Orono's way against Houlton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Orono made off with a 14-0 win. Do the Riots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Shiretowners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
