Kaw Valley recap September 24, 2013
Lansing moved up to 118 from 148 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Kaw Valley. The Lions climbed the ranks as a result of besting Turner 36-26.
Mill Valley took down Basehor-Linwood 38-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ty Bruce threw for 31 yards and ran for 129 yards in the win.
Bonner Springs's dynamic duo of Jordan Jackson and Jonah Freese proved to be unstoppable against Bishop Ward, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jackson threw for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns and Freese had 116 yards receiving. Michael Amayo helped Bonner Springs' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 43 yards.
The Braves' dynamic duo of Jackson and Freese proved tough for the Cyclones to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Jackson put up the best numbers in passing as Bonner Springs defeated Bishop Ward.
PAUL BERRY was the best running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 132 yards as the Golden Bears beat Tim Dorian's team. Teammate Roy Williams added to the ground attack by rushing for 54 yards.
He went 11-19 with 0 interception.
Freese was the best receiver in the league this week as the Braves topped the Cyclones.
BERRY provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Turner lost to Lansing. BERRY's favorite target this week was SIRR GREEN, who caught 5 passes for 102 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Krystian Abbott of Bill Pekarek's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 667. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is GREEN. The Turner star has 27 catches for 322 yards.
The top two teams in Kaw Valley will face off this week when first place Tonganoxie takes on second place Mill Valley. Tonganoxie bested Piper last week, while the Jaguars beat the Bobcats.
Bonner Springs led the league in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on Bishop Ward. Jackson ran for 22 yards during the win.
