Softball Recap: Riverside Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Riverside entered their tilt with Irvin on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 18-2 win. The Rangers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rockets, too.

Zoey Quintana made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, Mandy Contreras was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Julie Muniz, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .722. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Riverside's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Irvin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside will take on Bowie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bowie has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.12 runs per game on average), something Riverside will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Irvin, they will challenge Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
