 The team  relied heavily on  Bently Paynter, who  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with three  runs, three  RBI,  and a  triple. Another player making a difference was  Taylor Johnson, who  went 1-for-3 with a  triple and  an  RBI.
 On Layton's side,  Serenity Overton was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 2-for-3 with four  RBI, a  triple,  and a  run.
 Even though they lost, Layton  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. That's the fewest  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 Corner Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Layton, their loss was  their ninth straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 3-18.
 Corner Canyon will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Riverton at 3:30  p.m. Corner Canyon knows how to get  runs on the board -- the  team has finished with flashy  run totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Riverton likes a good challenge. Layton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
