Baseball Recap: Southwest Louisiana Homeschool Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let Faith Training Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. Considering Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool has won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Branson Fruge was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fruge was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Domininc Morrison was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Preston Babineaux, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Faith Training Christian Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool will venture away from home to take on NELA Christian Homeschool at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Faith Training Christian Academy, they will head out to challenge Christian Home Educators Fellowship at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Faith Training Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
