Last Friday, Porter Ridge was the victim of a tough 74-48 defeat at the hands of the Warriors. Porter Ridge has struggled against the Warriors recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Porter Ridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rai'shawn Elmore, who scored 16 points, and Dennis Kurucu who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Elmore has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ziggy Harris, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Cuthbertson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 14th straight loss. They took a hard 45-30 fall against Marvin Ridge. While losing is never fun, Cuthbertson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Mavericks are ranked 112th).
Porter Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Cuthbertson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.
Porter Ridge strolled past the Cavaliers in their previous matchup last Wednesday by a score of 59-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Porter Ridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
