Jesse Rojas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. Meanwhile, Virgin Valley put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They never let Mojave get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Rattlers: they've now won five in a row.
Like Mater Academy East Las Vegas, Virgin Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Koby Perry. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Perry has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Virgin Valley got a massive performance out of Jordan Goodsell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cade Litzenberger, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Virgin Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, their record is now 14-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mater Academy East Las Vegas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Virgin Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Virgin Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
