The biggest upset of the week belonged to Widefield, who took down 39th ranked Mesa Ridge, 27-26. Mario Sanabria threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 58 yards in the win.
Alex Snyder and James Michael Sullivan provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Palmer Ridge. The connection was good for 85 yards, the longest such play in 4A Foothills this season.
Derek Jackson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 380 yards as Pueblo West bested the Bears. Austin Bass also contributed to the rushing game with 65 yards on the ground.
Sullivan was the best wideout in the league this week as the Indians defeated Palmer Ridge. Sullivan tallied three receptions for 141 yards. Ryan McMahon helped Cheyenne Mountain's passing attack out by catching two balls for 17 yards.
The Gladiators' Sanabria and Anthony Saunders have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Foothills in both passing and receiving yards. Sanabria has thrown for 1018 yards this season, while Saunders, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 19 catches for 291 yards. Jackson from the Cyclones leads the league in rushing with 1358 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Grizzlies take on Cheyenne Mountain. Mesa Ridge's offense has scored 236 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Brian Sherman 's team has allowed only 92 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Indians take on Rob Braaten's team. As it stands, Cheyenne Mountain is in third, while the Grizzlies are in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Indians take on Mesa Ridge. Cheyenne Mountain has allowed 92 points this season, while the Grizzlies have given up 110. The Indians allowed 0 points last week as they bested Tom Pulford's team.
