Carson Franc was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Franc was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Metz, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alex Rowe, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, while Pine-Richland put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Taylor Allderdice. The Rams put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Rams have won four games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Pine-Richland also got a great performance from Drew Boivin as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched.
At the plate, Thomas Kapanowski was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Breck Hemphill was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Pine-Richland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.
Avonworth pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pine-Richland, their record is now 8-1.
