The Marina Mariners waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 69-65 win over St. Francis. Given Marina's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while St. Francis is ranked 1210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Julius Robinson, who scored 38 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Marina's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb True, who scored 13 points.
Joseph Rose and Sam Braun certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Rose dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while Braun scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Braun has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Markel Parker was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Marina's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for St. Francis, they bumped their record down to 2-15 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Marina will head out on the road to face off against North Monterey County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Francis, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Watsonville at 7:00 p.m.
