The Bluffton Bobcats waltzed into their contest on Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over Hilton Head Island. Given Bluffton's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Hilton Head Island is ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tacoya Heyward was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'laina Mosley, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Several Seahawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lawton Crose, who scored five points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Jules Mckenna, who scored six points along with two steals.
Bluffton's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for Hilton Head Island, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
Bluffton will be playing at home against James Island at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully James Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Friday. As for Hilton Head Island, they will head out on the road to face off against Lucy Beckham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
