After a string of 12 wins, the Badger Braves's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 72-47 loss at the hands of Rootstown. While losing is never fun, Badger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Rootstown is ranked 66th).
Despite the loss, Badger still got an impressive performance from Gabriella Miller, who scored 13 points. Anja Suhar was another key contributor, scoring three points.
Badger struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rootstown racked up 13 assists.
Nadia Lough continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rootstown, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Lough is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addy Germann, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Badger's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Rootstown, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-1.
Badger will be playing in front of their home fans against Windham at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Rootstown, they will head out on the road to face off against Aquinas at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Aquinas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday.
