McCall Sims was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Lakyn Rogers was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Byars, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Milan sidestepped Scotts Hill for a 1-0 victory.
Not much got past Camryn Green, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Scotts Hill off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maycee Masters, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Westview's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Milan, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-10 record this season.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Westview's way against Milan in their previous matchup on Thursday, as Westview made off with an 8-1 win. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
