The Apex Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Panther Creek Catamounts at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Apex is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Apex took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Cary as Apex made off with a 15-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Imps: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Leah Kendall, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Blakely Sellers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Kendall wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Apex lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. Apex is a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Panther Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Green Level on Thursday, taking the game 11-7.
Jessica Burk made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Hannah Welborn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Robinson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Panther Creek now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Apex, their record is now 4-2.
Apex suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Panther Creek in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Apex avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
