West Boylston/Tahanto extended the longest winning streak in Midland Wachusett - D this week by beating Ayer, 26-6. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
West Boylston/Tahanto took down the Panthers 26-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mike Pace ran for 174 yards in the win.
Dave Tinglof's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Steven Gould threw for 83 yards and Kyle McCubrey had 42 yards receiving. Bryan Hayes helped West Boylston/Tahanto's passing attack out by catching three balls for 41 yards.
The Lions' Gould and Hayes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gould has thrown for 703 yards this season, while Hayes, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 22 catches for 496 yards. Maynard/Bromfield's Sean Peterson leads the league in rushing yards with 1247.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on Ayer. At the moment, Maynard/Bromfield is in fourth, while Peter Mccarron's team is in sixth.
Murdock made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,228 from 12,408. The advance stemmed from a 14-6 victory over the Blue Devils last week.
