Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Davenport

Davenport put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over the Oilton Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Chase Mitchell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Mitchell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Bryson Dingman and Tyler Gilkison did most of the damage at the plate: Dingman went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Gilkison scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Collin Bales was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Davenport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Davenport's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Oilton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Davenport will square off against Drumright at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oilton, they will venture away from home to challenge Mounds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
