The Cedaredge Bruins were the 42-40 winner over the Plateau Valley Cowboys when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Cedaredge ended up on the wrong side of a tough 63-39 walloping at the hands of Plateau Valley on Friday. While losing is never fun, Cedaredge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Plateau Valley is ranked 33rd).
Loss or not, Cedaredge got some senior leadership from Luke Maxey who scored 17 points and Logan Tullis who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. The game was Maxey's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Bowler, who scored five points along with four blocks.
Cedaredge has fallen quite a ways from their 18-4 record last season and are now at 1-6. As for Plateau Valley, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedaredge will face off against Nucla at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plateau Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Park at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully North Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
