AAA Region 4 recap October 1, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Haralson County, who took down 298th ranked Douglass, 27-25.
The Rebels were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in AAA Region 4. Haralson County defeated the Astros 27-25 earlier in the week.
Keenan Moore threw for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 18-35 with 1 interception.
TJ Dunson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Central defeated Business Engineering Science Tech. The 5-foot-9 senior.
Damarius Owensby was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 114 yards as the Lions lost to Callaway. Teammate Curtis Davenport added to the ground attack by rushing for 76 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Jaguars' Moore and Smith have proven to be a lethal combination. Moore has thrown for 958 yards this season, while Smith, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 19 catches for 445 yards. The Eagles' Deshawn Waller leads the league in rushing yards with 457.
A big matchup in AAA Region 4 this week will be when Business Engineering Science Tech takes on Joe Hollis' team. As it stands, Joshua Moore's team is in fourth, while the Rebels are in fifth.
Jackson scaled the state rankings by moving to 263 from 299 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Eric Williams' team climbed the ranks as a result of falling to the Cavaliers 39-14.
