If the West Marshall Trojans were riding high off their 66-31 takedown of the Greene County Rams last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. West Marshall took a 61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perry on Tuesday. West Marshall was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Perry apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Leading Perry to victory were Zander Mahler and Geren Kenney. Mahler scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Kenney scored 15 points along with four steals. The matchup was Kenney's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelan Davis, who scored six points along with nine assists.
West Marshall has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Perry, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
West Marshall will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Saydel at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. After both having extra time off, Perry and Greene County will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Greene County is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
