While losing is never fun, Jim Thorpe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 674th, while Lehighton is ranked 279th).
Meanwhile, even though Tamaqua scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, Pottsville still came out on top. Pottsville took their matchup against Tamaqua 68-60. The score was all tied up 34-34 at the break, but Pottsville was the better team in the second half.
Pottsville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kole Becker out in front who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Becker has scored all season. Christian Alvarez was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Jim Thorpe's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Pottsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Jim Thorpe might still be hurting after the 63-37 loss they got from Pottsville when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Jim Thorpe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
