Tattnall Square Academy hasn't had much luck against Stratford Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tattnall Square Academy Trojans will look to defend their home court against the Stratford Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Tattnall Square Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 22 contests -- so hopefully Stratford Academy likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Tattnall Square Academy took their game with ease, bagging a 70-35 win over First Presbyterian Day. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Vikings are ranked 532nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Whit Davidson, who posted 18 points.
Meanwhile, Stratford Academy entered their tilt with Mount de Sales Academy on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 65-54 victory over the Cavaliers.
Tattnall Square Academy better keep an eye on Frankie Raines Jr. He was instrumental in Stratford Academy's win, going 13 for 16 on his way to 26 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The matchup was Raines Jr's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Stephens, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and five boards.
Stratford Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.
Stratford Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Tattnall Square Academy, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Tattnall Square Academy and Stratford Academy are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Tattnall Square Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.1 points per game. However, it's not like Stratford Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Tattnall Square Academy barely slipped by Stratford Academy in their previous matchup last Monday, winning 63-62. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Raines Jr, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Tattnall Square Academy still be able to contain Raines Jr? There's only one way to find out.
