Greenville extended their losing streak  to three  on Friday, dropping them down to 3-4. They had to suffer through  a    60-20 loss at the hands of the Mount Vernon Mustangs. Despite 110 more yards than the Mustangs, the Patriots couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
 Loss or not, Greenville got some senior leadership from  Marquel Deering and  Jamere Smith.  Deering rushed for 304 yards and one  TD while picking up 17.9 yards per carry, while  Smith gained 289 total yards. Deering showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 62 yards.
As for Mount Vernon, their win bumped their record up to 3-5. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  points they've scored all season.
  Keon Clealand had another great game (as  he tends to do), rushing for 183 yards and three  scores on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 177 yards and three  touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Mount Vernon's leading receiver  Taurean Rawlins was  Clealand's top target yet again, picking up 126 receiving yards and a pair of  TDs.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenville will take on Trion at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Patriots will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.88  points per  game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mount Vernon, after each having a week off, they and King's Ridge Christian will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another  at 3:45  p.m.  on  the 24th.
