The Pacifica Mariners will head out to square off against the Cypress Centurions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pacifica will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Pacifica is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Glendora as they made off with a 15-4 win. The Mariners' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Shay Kletke made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Kletke was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Mikella Carey was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Serena Antillon, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.
Pacifica was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendora only posted a batting average of .241.
Fullerton typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Cypress proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Indians.
Chach Stamper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cypress saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Callie Kissell, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Pacifica has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Cypress, their record now sits at 17-12.
Pacifica beat Cypress 4-1 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mariners since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
