Basketball Game Preview: Windham Whippets vs. Waterford Lancers

Windham is 1-6 against Waterford since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Windham Whippets will head out on the road to face off against the Waterford Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Windham will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

On Monday, Windham was fully in charge, breezing past Griswold 75-34. The Whippets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 24 points or more this season.

Asihja Harris was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaelize Rivera, who went 8 for 19 on her way to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Windham was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Waterford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 56-40 fall against Westerly. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 87th in Connecticut, while the Bulldogs are ranked eighth in Rhode Island).

Waterford's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Windham, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1.

Windham was able to grind out a solid win over Waterford in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 61-52. Does Windham have another victory up their sleeve, or will Waterford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
