The Westmoreland Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Middlesex Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westmoreland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
While Westmoreland's win against Essex wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Trojans 6-4. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Emma Burgess spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on zero hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Westmoreland secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Hailey Jett, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Westmoreland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Essex struck out 17 times.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Middlesex made sure to put some runs up on the board against Mathews last Thursday. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Blue Devils. Considering the Chargers have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Magen Daniels was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Kayleigh Moye was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Libby Oliver, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Middlesex is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Westmoreland, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Westmoreland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Middlesex struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Westmoreland came out on top in a nail-biter against Middlesex in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
