The New Year welcomed Lanier County with a 62-24 whooping from Worth County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lanier County in their matchups with Worth County: they've now lost three in a row.
Worth County found their leader in underclassman Jariah Williams, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The game was Williams' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Za?Liah Howard, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Lanier County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Worth County, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lanier County will take on Atkinson County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Worth County and Jeff Davis will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Jeff Davis is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
