Wheeler hasn't had much luck against East Union recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will face off against the Urchins at 6:30 p.m. Wheeler's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so East Union's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Saturday. Wheeler's pitcher stepped up to hand Tremont a 12-0 shutout. Wheeler might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Marli Kate Shockley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Kate Beckham was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Shaw, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, East Union faced Itawamba Agricultural in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Urchins narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Indians 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Urchins.
Lucy Cochran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lilly Mae Watson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
East Union pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Wheeler, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Wheeler might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from East Union in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
