After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Longview, the McKinney North Bulldogs were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They secured a 59-53 W over Tyler HEAT. The victory was all the more spectacular given McKinney North's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 863rd, while Tyler HEAT is ranked 141st).
Despite the loss, Tyler HEAT had strong showings from Elijah Grimes, who scored 7 points along with 8 blocks and 6 rebounds, and Waker Hartman, who scored 16 points. Hartman scored a full 30.2% of Tyler HEAT's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kedren Penny was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
McKinney North's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Tyler HEAT, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.
McKinney North will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Bullard at 1:15 p.m. on December 8th. Bullard knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully McKinney North likes a good challenge. As for Tyler HEAT, they will take on Westwood at TBD on Friday.
