The Summertown Eagles waltzed into Tuesday's game with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against Cornersville by a score of 77-69. Given Summertown's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Cornersville is ranked 404th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Summertown was led to victory by Kurt Burleson and Grayson Burlseon. Burleson dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Burlseon dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Burleson's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Sherman, who scored 11 points.
Summertown pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for Cornersville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Summertown will head out on the road to face off against Perry County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cornersville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Loretto at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
