Castle Park is 6-1 against Southwest SD since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Castle Park Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Southwest SD Raiders at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Thursday, Castle Park was beaten by Chula Vista 49-13. Castle Park was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Although Castle Park took the loss, they still got scores from Sebastian Lozano and Christian Hayes.
Meanwhile, Southwest SD fell victim to Chula Vista's stalwart defense two weeks ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 47-0 loss at the hands of the Spartans. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Castle Park now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Southwest SD, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Castle Park has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 236.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Southwest SD struggles in that department as they've been averaging 147.9 per game. It's looking like Thursday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Castle Park strolled past Southwest SD in their previous meeting back in September of 2022 by a score of 33-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Castle Park since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
