Basketball Recap: Concordia's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Concordia strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 61-52 victory over the Smoky Valley Vikings. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

Despite the loss, Smoky Valley still got an impressive performance from Kristian Ryan, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 50% of the Vikings' points, marking the third time in a row Ryan has posted more than a third of the team's points. Ty Heitschmidt was another key player, putting up seven points.

Concordia's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Smoky Valley, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Concordia and Hesston will compete for holiday cheer on Tuesday. As for Smoky Valley, they will be home for the holidays to greet Belle Plaine at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will be up against the Dragons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
