If the Walnut Mustangs were riding high off their 88-57 takedown of the Western Christian Fighting Lancers on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Walnut took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Los Osos. While losing is never fun, Walnut can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Los Osos is ranked 31st).
Despite the loss, Walnut still got an impressive performance from Josh Magno, who scored 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Leon, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
Walnut's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Los Osos, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.
Walnut will head out on the road to face off against Environmental Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Los Osos, they will be playing at home against Western Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
