The Gulfport Admirals will take on the New Site Royals in a holiday battle at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Gulfport has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while New Site will arrive with nine straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Gulfport was beaten by St. Martin 69-27. While losing is never fun, Gulfport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while St. Martin is ranked 38th).
New Site has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 25 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Jumpertown 62-31 at home.
Brooklyn Hodum and Chloe Chism were among the main playmakers for New Site as the former scored 15 points along with four steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Chism's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayla Stanley, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Gulfport bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for New Site, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
