In what's become a running theme this season, Notre Dame Prep gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 67-18 victory over Desert Mountain. With Notre Dame Prep ahead 52-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Notre Dame Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Pautz out in front who scored 16 points along with seven assists and two steals. Another player making a difference was Lily Mccracken, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Youngker didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Kofa on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 46-41 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Youngker.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Youngker to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashlee Gonzalez, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Gonzalez hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Ytzel McClendon was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 16 rebounds and two steals.
Notre Dame Prep's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Youngker, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Notre Dame Prep have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Youngker struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 30.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Notre Dame Prep against Youngker in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 69-29 win. With Notre Dame Prep ahead 34-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
