Even though the Alcona Tigers have not done well against the Mio-Au Sable Thunderbolts recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Alcona strolled past Mio-Au Sable with points to spare, taking the game 50-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Alcona.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alcona to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Renchenski, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Garrett Somers was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Alcona is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Mio-Au Sable, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alcona will take on Fairview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairview is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Mio-Au Sable, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Posen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Michigan (Posen is ranked 569th, while Mio-Au Sable is ranked 573rd).
