A pair of Texas pitchers and a freshman phenom from California highlight the MaxPreps Underclass All-American Teams.
Paige McDuffee of The Woodlands (Texas), who was named the
MaxPreps National Player of the Year earlier this week, heads a list of the 30 top juniors in the country. She's joined by sophomore pitcher Brandi Needham of Dripping Springs, who earned MaxPreps All-American second team honors and was the Central Texas player of the year by the Austin Statesman.
In California, freshman pitcher Allison Walljasper has earned player of the year honors by both the Stockton Record and the Modesto Bee after leading Sierra (Manteca, Calif.) to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV championship.
The MaxPreps Underclass All-American teams consist of 30 players each for juniors, sophomores and freshmen.
