Newton won the last time they faced Arkansas City and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Railroaders came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 2-0.

While Newton won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The final score came out to 28-26, 25-16.

Their offense was headlined by Ana Lawrence and Daisy Bradshaw, who picked up seven kills apiece. Bradshaw really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with nine. Finally, Brynn Budde kept Newton's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Newton's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for Arkansas City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Newton and Arkansas City will both be playing Andover the next time they take the court. The Bulldogs will host the Trojans on Tuesday, while the Railroaders will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
